Mom’s Ménière’s Disease Linked to Depression and Panic

Sixteen years ago, my mom started experiencing spinning dizziness. A hospital diagnosed her with Ménière’s disease, and she’s been on medication since. But her condition never stabilized, and ten years passed.

Watching her suffer frequent dizzy spells, lying down, and vomiting was heartbreaking. Yet, no one felt it more than her. We decided as a family to support her fully.

Mom began doubting Ménière’s was the only cause, so she visited doctor after doctor until finding her current one. There, sharing her symptoms, she heard a new diagnosis for the first time: depression. They said her Ménière’s stemmed from panic disorder caused by depression. As a family, we felt a ray of hope knowing her condition and next steps were clearer.

She’s still on medication, and her dizziness is now so rare it’s almost gone. It takes time, but Mom says, “I’ll keep up the treatment.” We’re committed to supporting her until she fully recovers.
