Eating spicy ramen and sweating has become my stress relief. I started with regular cup noodles or instant ramen, but it wasn’t enough anymore. Now, I add extra chili flakes to spicy instant ramen or pile heaps of chili on stir-fried veggies to top my ramen.
I usually stick to ramen for spicy dishes, but sometimes I sprinkle chili on natto or tofu too. With kids to raise, I mostly eat this late at night, between 10 p.m. and midnight, when I can finally unwind alone.
After eating, I feel the refreshing rush of sweat and the pride of finishing that spicy meal, which eases my stress.
Some days, even when stress builds up, my body can’t handle spicy food. Then, I soak in the bath with my phone for a break.
The bath clears my mind, so I watch videos or read blog posts about topics I want to learn. Sometimes, I add scented bath salts with cool benefits or play music while soaking.
I rarely get time to dive into my interests, but the bath’s quiet space and warm water let me focus and relax.
I’m planning to make bath time even better, maybe getting a bath pillow or a table for the tub.
Relaxing on the sofa or bed is nice, but the bath’s warmth, silence, and personal space help me concentrate, so it’s my go-to spot.
Both spicy food and baths are doable at home, and as a parent, I think I’ve found great stress-busting tricks.
