The pandemic brought unemployment and stay-at-home stress. Losing a job meant watching every penny, and staying home more just made me feel trapped and frustrated.
So, I came up with walking—no travel costs, some time outdoors, and a chance to soak in nature.
Some walk from home, but I drive to the biggest nearby park and start there. Rain’s no issue with boots or an umbrella, and the quiet paths feel calming and soulful.
Staying home makes me overthink real-world problems, but walking in a park or nature resets me. It clears my head and stops me from overanalyzing.
Watching trees change, feeling the air shift with the seasons—it makes me more aware of time passing. Walking in that setting opens my mind, and the more I walk, the more alive and free I feel.
Using energy walking makes food taste better and helps me sleep well. When I’m stressed, sleep can be tough, so falling asleep easily is a blessing.
Sometimes, other walkers greet me, which feels great when I’m lonely or anxious. Unlike meds, walking has no side effects, costs nothing, and is easy to keep up. I want to make it a regular part of my life.
